Father’s Day 2024

Third Sunday of June marks Father’s Day around the world. Happy Father’s Day 2024 to all the wonderful dads!

Father’s Day Sunday came and went by in a blink! Our weekends are always filled with kids activities – tennis, karate, playdates, and birthday parties. Father’s Day weekend was no exception. I happily took Lady Yeya to all her weekend activities including a ‘wall-climbing’ birthday party so Kenz could have some down time. It’s been a busy month so far with fun dates to see Stranger Things and The Smashing Pumpkins concert. We were looking forward to a low-day Father’s Day Sunday.

Father-Daughter
BBQ Brisket for Father’s Day

Kenz’ idea of ‘low key’ is hosting a BBQ lunch with good food and good company. Due to the dismal wet weather, Kenz has not been able to use the Big Green Egg as much as he would like. Eager to use the Egg, we invited another family to join us to celebrate Father’s Day for a Sunday BBQ. On the menu was of course Kenz’ famous smoked brisket and all the American classics such as Southern potato salad and Mac-n-Cheese. Ken went big(ger) this time, ordering a 5kg brisket with a generous fat cap to ensure everyone eats well and with ample leftovers.

The overnight cook went swimmingly well. It took a total of 12 hours at 250F with the stall at the half-way mark. We always recommend wrapping the brisket when it stalls to prevent it from getting too dry. We were lucky that the sun came out and we were able to enjoy alfresco dining in the garden with good food, good friends, and good times.
