Bali Diaries: Ritz Carlton Nusa Dua and Uluwatu Temple
Nusa Dua, Bali is a tranquil coastal haven known for its white-sand beaches and luxury resorts, and only a short drive away from Uluwatu Temple.
Nestled in southern Bali, Nusa Dua is a gated enclave known for high-end resorts all clustered together along a beautiful stretch of white-sand beach. For the last three nights of our two-week Balinese vacation, we stayed at the Ritz Carlton Nusa Dua with a half-day trip to visit the famous Uluwatu Temple.
Kecak Show at Uluwatu Temple
Uluwatu Temple is perhaps one of Bali’s most photographed temples which sits on a cliff 70-metres above the Indian Ocean. The area is just stunning and worth coming here around sunset to catch the iconic Kecak Fire Dance in its open air-theatre.

Here I met up with my friends again for our last evening together before they fly back to San Francisco. We arrived at Uluwatu with a private driver around 4pm for an hour or so exploring the temple complex and taking in the gorgeous view. Malini Restaurant is a super popular place to eat thanks to the cliff view, but it is exceptionally busy. Instead we went to Warung Bejana nearby before the 7pm show. By far the Uluwatu Kecek Fire Show is most impressive with a huge fire and over 70+ bare-chested men chanting “cak cak cak” in unison as the main characters retell the famous Ramayana story. A must do and see when in Bali, so be sure to book early.

Family-Friendly Ritz Carlton Nusa Duh
Ritz Carlton is a dream stay for families (and for couples too!). It is a gorgeous resort with a tranquil vibe set on top of a dramatic cliff and top-notched service. The room was spacious with 100sqm including a massive bathroom and outdoor sitting area. Understated elegance with contemporary furnishing and a touch of Balinese accent makes for an utterly relaxed stay.

Another highlight is the amazing Ritz Kids Club with its own little splash park. Each child receives a thoughtful welcome gift including Ritz-branded stuffed toy and hygiene kit. The energetic staff at the Kids Club has a curated programme of Balinese arts and crafts and storytime. With six on-site restaurants from beachside to clifftop restaurants, you’ll never go hungry. The breakfast buffet is on another level with numerous ‘themed’ stations: noodle bar, sushi bar, raw bar, fruit bar, and more!

The beachfront main pool is one of the biggest pools I have ever seen in all my travels in southeast Asia. Shaped like a “T”, plenty of Bali-beds and sun loungers flanked around the pool. There is even a swim-up bar off to the side. For those who enjoy gazing at the ocean whilst reading a book, you will relish the views of the pristine beach. The Hydro Pool was relaxing if you need some quiet time away from the crowd.
The outdoor entertainment complex, Bali Collection, is only a short Gocek ride away if you want to dine outside the Ritz or do a bit of exploring around Nusa Dua. Overall Ritz Carlton was a perfect way to end our time in Bali.
