Bali Diaries: Amazing Andaz Bali, Sanur

Modern design meets Balinese charm in a lush tropical setting, beachfront Andaz Bali is the perfect sanctuary for rest and relaxation.

Nestled in the heart of Sanur, Andaz Bali is a beautiful beachfront resort with all the amenities for a relaxed stay in Sanur. The whole resort feels like a tropical paradise, blending modern architecture with traditional Balinese charm in a lush setting. A beautiful koi pond at the lobby takes you to the Village Square with different restaurants should you wish to dine on site. On the beachfront, there is the main pool “Liang” with plenty of sun loungers and parasols as well as Andaz signature Fisherman’s Club seafood restaurant. Guests can move seamlessly between the beach and pool with ease. However, it is hard to pull yourself away from Andaz’ refreshing pool. Behind the main pool is a  shallow kids pool with frangipani trees providing shade. Landscape design with ample trees and cooling ponds gave Andaz Bali a serene and peaceful vibe.

Spacious and Elegant Rooms

For five nights, we stayed in a family suite in Daja B with direct access to the Santhi Pool (Quiet, Adults Only). Our beautiful and spacious room was spotless with soft neutral colour palettes and fluffy beds for maximum comfort and relaxation. The huge bathroom has double sinks, bathtub and shower, and a separate Toto-style toilet. A separate closet area allows us to keep our suitcase and beach gear away from the living space. Non-alcoholic beverages and local snacks were replenished daily. Housekeeping and staff were excellent – hardworking, helpful, and friendly.

Village Market Breakfast

Breakfast is a treat at Andaz Bali. Instead of a buffet style, Andaz Bali offers the “Village Market Breakfast” which is an unlimited a la carte menu. Each morning we devoured platters of tropical fruit and berries; cured meats and cheese; varieties of cereal, grains, and bread; pastries; and eggs . Kenz is a big fan of Asian-style breakfast and tried every item under “Local Flavour”. One morning, we had some two dozen “fish of the day” which were grilled oysters. Breakfast was a relaxed family affair where we linger and enjoy pots of Balinese coffee before a busy day of pool time and sunbathing.

 Cheerful Kemu Mai Kids Club

The cheerful and fun Kemu Mai Kids Club was a huge hit with Lady Yeya. She went either in morning or afternoon sessions, so we can escape for a massage or relax at the Adults Pool. At 6pm, the kids participate in the daily procession “Kul-Kul Parade” dressed in traditional attire. Playing the slit-log drums, the children follow the leader to the front of the hotel where he then lights up the fire pit. In doing so, Balinese people believe it will ward off negative energy and promote peace and serenity. Its sister property, Hyatt Regency, is separated by a walking path where the gym and spa is located. In line with its conservation initiative, there is also the Sea Turtle Village at Hyatt Regency. We dropped by daily to visit the cute baby sea turtles.

Andaz Bali in Sanur was utterly a relaxed and comfortable stay, balancing luxury and tradition. An elegant resort without being pretentious with top-notched service in every way.
