Happy Mother’s Day 2025 (US Edition)

A very heartfelt Happy Mother’s Day to all you beautiful mamas!

It has been busy since returning from our epic trip to Bali. We have just about recovered from jet-lag, Bali belly, and post-holiday blues. Work has been busy for us with new projects kicking off and colleagues in town. Phew. I had nearly forgotten about Mother’s Day this year. I am generally no-fuss about birthdays and Mother’s Day but Kenz always insists that we celebrate all occasions and showered me with an Elemis beauty box.

Mother’s Day Sunday Roast

For Mother’s Day (US Edition), we enjoyed a Sunday Roast at Roe in Canary Wharf with another family who are now parents of three boys! Her beautiful brood reminds us so much of when Kenz’s nephews were young. Before heading out, we opened a bottle of Moet 2013 to toast to all things motherhood.

Located in Wood Wharf in a light-filled and airy building, Roe is a sister restaurant of FOWL and Fallow St. James. Seated near the bi-fold window, we had beautiful views of the water. We all ordered the Sunday Roast and an assortment of starters, which were all excellent. The French Malbec went well with our beef roast and yorkshire puddings. The kids devoured their cheeseburgers after their respective karate and rugby classes.  To round out our meals, we all shared some pudding of banana parfait, cheesecake and profiteroles. A lovely day with great food, friends, and sunshine. A perfect kind of Sunday!

A Special First Mother’s Day

I also want to wish a very happy first Mother’s Day to my baby sister. She and her partner welcomed a baby girl in October. Each of us three sisters now have a daughter born six years apart (2012, 2018, 2024). My late mother would be so incredibly proud of daughters and granddaughters. Yes indeed, we are a very female-dominated family. If only we lived closer together, we could celebrate these joyful moments together.
