Happy Mother’s Day
Wishing all the wonderful mums on Earth and up in Heaven a Happy Mother’s Day!
Happy Mother’s Day!
For Mother’s Day, I like to celebrate on the second Sunday in May with the rest of my fellow Americans. Here in the United Kingdom, Mothering Sunday is on the fourth Sunday in Lent leading up to Easter Sunday. But as we are all winter babies born in December, February, and March, that is a lot of celebrations packed into three months of the year. So to spread the joy, we defer to the U.S. Mother’s Day in May when the days are longer and the weather is warmer. And my one of my favourite flowers – peonies – are in full bloom.
This year, Mother’s Day weekend coincided with my friend’s “baby sprinkle” as she is expecting her third baby in the coming weeks. Her lovely friend kindly organised a mum’s only lunch at a local pub to celebrate the arrival of Baby #3. Kenz took Lady Yeya to Science Museum where the father-daughter duo had a great time at the Wonder Lab. The other dads took their children to various activities so us mums can have the afternoon off. What I thought would be a two-hour lunch turned into a five hour all-day affair. I’m not going to lie; it was so nice to have the entire afternoon off with great company. Over Nicoise salads, steaks, and wine, we laughed and joked as we all shared hilarious stories about our children and partners.
The bond of motherhood. The joys of motherhood. I am glad to share the day with my fellow mums over wine and a lot of laughter. And then coming home to a clean house and dinner on the table.
Every day should be Mother’s Day but today is your day. Have a beautiful Mother’s Day everyone!
