Princess Diana Memorial Playground
Inspired by Peter Pan, the Princess Diana Memorial Playground is amazing, offering up hours of fun inside Kensington Gardens.
One of the most iconic playgrounds in London – the Princess Diana Memorial Playground – is located around the corner from former residence at Kensington Palace. This beautiful playground is a tribute to HRH Diana, Princess of Wales who had a keen interest in early education.
Lady Yeya has never been to the Princess Diana Memorial Playground. As I had errands to run in Central London, I thought it would be fun for a family day out in Hyde Park. Starting from Marble Arch, we walked the entire length of Hyde Park, stopping by the Italian Gardens and finally to the Princess Diana Memorial Playground.
A Peter Pan-inspired Playground
This Peter Pan-inspired playground is beautifully designed with various play zones for toddlers to older children. Captain Cook’s Jolly Roger wooden pirate ship sailing in the sea of sand is the main attraction. Using their wild imagination, children climb up the pole, take charge of the wheel, hide in the hull or search for a nearby treasure chest. For older kids, there are delightful wooden play structures, a fantastic trio of teepees, and a sound wall. For younger kids, there is a fantastic area with mini houses and animal-inspired climbing structures. Parents and carers can relax on the beautiful lawn under the pergola.
The Princess Diana Memorial Playground is a mix between Greenwich Park with its wooden playground and the Children’s Garden at Kew and its whimsical design. It is a touching way to commemorate the late Diana, Princess of Wales. I’m sure it warms her heart seeing so many happy children enjoying this amazing facility.
