Land of Fire and Ice: Wild Iceland
Over the August bank holiday weekend, Kenz and I along with another couple friend took a little road trip to enjoy the wild beauty of Iceland. Everyone should go to Iceland at least once in their life; it’s quite unique and very different from all the places we visited in Europe. It’s wild with varied landscapes and natural formations from moss-covered lava fields, spectacular waterfalls, geyers, plate tectonics, and massive glaciers. Without further ado, some photo highlights from our Iceland road-trippin’ tour.
Driving Tour 1 – Golden Circle: Þingvellir, Gullfoss, and the Geyers, plus Kerið, a volcanic crater.
First stop: Þingvellir, site of the a rift valley marking the mid-Atlantic Ridge. Our friends and us at Öxarárfoss waterfall
Geysers! It erupted fairly frequently.
Gullfoss – Admiring this short but powerful waterfall.
Kerið Crater
Night tour of Reykajavik — it was quite cold and it was still summer.
The Harpa and famous Hallgrímskirkja church
Driving Tour 2: Along the southern coast to Vik
Enjoyed some glacier hiking and some climbing. Amazing and highly recommended!
The black beaches on the coastal town of Vik.

Picturesque waterfall where you can walk behind the waterfall.
Wild landscape and wild horses
The famous Blue Lagoon — a great way to end our trip.
