SpongeBob Happy 6th Birthday!

In a blink of an eye, our sweet daughter turns six! Where does time go? Happy SpongeBob 6th Birthday!

Call it cliche, but the parental phrase “The days are long but the years are short” is so true. In a blink of an eye, our daughter turns six! Where does time go? Feels like it was just yesterday when we celebrated her first birthday.

Happy SpongeBob Birthday
A Very SpongeBob Birthday

Keeping to tradition, this year’s birthday theme was all about SpongeBob SquarePants. Lady Yeya was first introduced to SpongeBob and his quirky aquatic friends who live in Bikini Bottom last summer. At the request of my NJ-based friend’s 11 year-old son, I booked tickets to see SpongeBob the Musical when they were visiting London. Since then, Lady Yeya has been a big fan. Speaking to parents with older kids, SpongeBob has staying power and will be on regular rotation until at least the age of ten. There is a reason why SpongeBob is on its 14 season and counting. SpongeBob and his zany humour makes us all laugh so I don’t mind at all.

It’s the Best Day Ever!

Lady Yeya’s 6th birthday landed on the weekday. We sent her to school with a big box of Smarties (American size!) with a SpongeBob sticker “It’s the Best Day Ever!” for all of her classmates. We celebrated at home with sushi from Sticks-n-Sushi, cake, and ice cream. To add to her collection of SpongeBob figurines, we got her SpongeBob’s pineapple house, Patrick’s rock, the Chum Bucket, and Krabby Patty. According to Lady Yeya, “It’s the Best Day Ever!”.

Cinema Birthday Party: Migration

Kenz and I are low-key about birthdays in general. Unlike years past where we hosted a small gathering at home, we organised a drop-off movie party at a local cinema with seven friends. The kids watched Illumination’s Migration – a story of misadventures of the Mallard duck family enroute from New England to Jamaica. A heart-warming story of family, adventures, and courage featuring comedians Awkwafina and Danny DeVito.

Then it was time for pizza, followed by cake with parents joining in to wish Lady Yeya a very happy birthday! Thank you sweet friends for coming and for all the lovely presents for the birthday girl. Hope this year is filled with new adventures.
