Mumford & Sons at Hyde Park
British folk-rock band Mumford & Sons delivered an electrifying performance at BST Hyde Park on a magical summer evening.
One of my favourite Mumford & Sons albums is Wilder Mind. Released in May 2015, the much-anticipated record marked a departure from the band’s signature acoustic folk sound and banjo-heavy roots, embracing a more alternative rock style.
That year was a particularly difficult one for our family. My mum had passed away from pancreatic cancer just a few months earlier. When Wilder Mind was released, we found ourselves back in California, but this time for a happier occasion—a cousin’s wedding. In addition to seeing family and friends, we organised a road trip to Mendocino with my kid sister and our beloved dog, Buddy, who was still living in California at the time.
As we drove through the rolling vineyards of Napa and Sonoma before reaching the rugged coastline, Mumford & Sons provided the soundtrack to our journey. Wilder Mind played on repeat, from start to finish. I remember telling Kenz that one day I would love to see them perform live.
Fast forward ten years, and we finally got our chance.
When BST Hyde Park announced its 2026 headline acts—including Maroon 5, Garth Brooks, and Mumford & Sons—we didn’t need much convincing. Say no more—we’re in! So, on a sweltering summer evening, we dropped Lady Yeya off at her friend’s house and made our way to Hyde Park.

Mad About Mumford & Sons
Around 65,000 devoted fans packed Hyde Park to welcome Mumford & Sons back to the Great Oak Stage. It had been a decade since they last headlined the festival, making the performance feel like a true homecoming for the Wimbledon-formed band.
One thing that immediately stood out was how fit frontman Marcus Mumford looked after his impressive weight-loss transformation. More importantly, the band sounded as good as ever.
The setlist spanned their career, featuring fan favourites from multiple albums alongside a few special surprises. Irish singer-songwriter Hozier joined the band on stage for Rubber Band Man and Awake My Soul, creating some of the evening’s most memorable moments.
To our delight—and seemingly Marcus’s as well—the Queen of Country Pop, Shania Twain, made a surprise appearance. Having just performed at Wembley at the Harry Styles Concert, she arrived at Hyde Park looking absolutely fabulous. Naturally, the crowd erupted when she joined the band for her iconic anthem, Man! I Feel Like a Woman!
Kenz and I had an incredible time! There’s something special about enjoying live music in Hyde Park on a balmy summer evening, surrounded by thousands of people singing along to songs they love. Ten years after that road trip through Mendocino, California, it felt wonderfully fitting to finally see Mumford & Sons live. They were absolutely worth the wait like their hit song: I Will Wait, I Will Wait for You.
